The Alfa Laval MultiMidget is a Rotary Spray Head that uses cleaning media for coverage and impingement. This rotary spray head is a useful alternative to conventional static spray balls, as it uses low volumes of cleaning fluid at low pressure. The double ball bearing in the head of the MultiMidget makes it suited to all industrial cleaning applications, such as tanks, reactors, vessels and other containers ranging from 0.1 m3 to 10m3 (27 – 2,700 US gallons), depending on dimensions and cleaning task.
Working principle
The flow of the cleaning media makes the MultiMidget’s head rotate, and the fan-shaped jets generate a swirling pattern throughout the tank or reactor. This ensures the impact is sufficient to effectively remove residual product, as the cascading flow reaches and covers all internal surfaces of the vessels.

Rotary Spray Heads like the MultiMidget effectively clean tanks using less water, less energy and less cleaning agents than Static Spray Balls. This helps reduce consumption of high-purity water and chemicals.
As the MultiMidget Spray Head rotates, its fan-shaped jets produce a swirling pattern throughout the vessel. This generates the wetting/impact needed for the efficient removal of the residual product.
Designed with minimal internal pressure loss, Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Heads rotate at pressures of less than 0.1 bar; however, the recommended operating pressure for the MultiMidget is 2 bar.
Generally speaking, routine inspection is the only maintenance required for Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Head devices. These devices are so reliable that a single device in many cases can meet the requirements of a plant over its entire lifetime. The MultiMidget is lubricated by the cleaning media it dispenses.
