Designed to be used in all types of hygienic tanks, the Alfa Laval Rotacheck Basic and Alfa Laval Rotacheck Plus are smart sensors that assess and confirm the Alfa Laval Rotary Jet Heads are functioning properly during cleaning operations. These sensors are a proven, reliable means of validation that improves quality assurance in tank cleaning.
The sensors accurately and precisely register, monitor and measure a Rotary Jet Head’s rotation and impact. Whenever deviation from the expected rotation or impact pattern is detected, an error signal is sent automatically, so both the control system and the operator can take steps to ensure optimal operation is restored. The Rotacheck system can also utilise purified water (PW) and water for injection (WFI), and be a part of systems that are pressurised during Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) up to 0.3 bar.
Smart cleaning validation sensors with ATEX options provide automated monitoring of Rotary Jet Head performance during tank cleaning operations for quality assurance.
A standard system suitable for validating the rotation of the Rotary Jet Head. Can easily retrofit previously installed Rotacheck systems.
The Rotacheck Basic registers the moment when the sensor is hit by the water jet from the cleaning head. The system provides three digital outputs to the PLC:
Rotation
The moment in time when the water jet hits the sensor head, confirming “Rotation OK” status.
Alarm
In case of unit failure or constant hit (cleaning device error).
Idle
When the Rotary Jet Head is not in use and cleaning is not being performed.
An advanced and innovative system that features unique
built-in teach-in and monitoring functions to verify the proper rotation of the Rotary Jet Head.
The status of Rotary Jet Head operation is shown via digital PLC output as well as a visual light indication. System feedback includes three different digital outputs:
Rotation
When operation meets the values recorded during the baseline CIP cycle, confirming “Rotation OK” status.
Alarm
When the rotation falls above or below the acceptable reference values recorded during the initial CIP cycle.
Idle
When the Rotary Jet Head is not in use and cleaning is not being performed.
The Alfa Laval Rotacheck is built upon patented technology and mechanical design. It features a special sensor that accurately and precisely registers, monitors and evaluates the rotation and impact of the Rotary Jet Head. Whenever any deviation from the original rotation or impact pattern is detected, it automatically sends an error signal, enabling the control system as well as the operator to take remedial action to restore optimal operation. The Rotacheck system may also be used with PW (purified water) and WFI (water for injection) as well as in systems that are pressurised during CIP.
With Alfa Laval Rotacheck, plant operators and maintenance staff can easily monitor and verify proper Rotary Jet Head function as well as safe and efficient tank cleaning operations. A visual indication light integrated into the field housing displays the status of the Rotary Jet Head. Digital outputs enable effortless connection to any control or PLC-system, providing documented proof of cleaning effectiveness and secure online monitoring of tank cleaning operations at the plant at all times.
Protection class: IP66 and IP67
Pressure overload on diaphragm: 15 bar
Max. working pressure in tank while performing monitoring: 0.3 bar
Power supply: 24 Vdc +/- 10 %
Power consumption max.: 70 mA

Max. current per output: 50 mA
Electrical connection: M12 plug (8 poles) or M16 cable gland
The Alfa Laval Rotacheck control and validation systems for tank cleaning machines consist of a sensor unit with top cover, O-rings and electrical cable and/or connector. The sensor unit has a sensing device located inside the processing tank and is connected to a sensor board, which processes and communicates the signal to the programmable logic controller (PLC).
