GJ 10 Industrial Jet Head

Alfa Laval GJ 10
Industrial Jet Head

The Alfa Laval GJ 10 Rotary Tank Cleaning Head is fluid-driven, and suitable for industrial environments that demand underground fuel storage tanks. Insertable through openings as small as 10 cm in diameter, the GJ 10 can thoroughly clean underground fuel storage tanks with a volume of up to 113,56 mᶟ/h through a single insertion.

Lightweight, compact and effective, the GJ 10 pairs pressure and flow to create high-impact cleaning jets, precision engineered to move with a specific, replicable and constant 360-degree pattern. Within minutes, this device blasts away contaminants and disrupts grime and dirt, easily converting contaminant-filled sludges into liquid effluent for thorough tank extraction and complete vessel cleaning.

Other Specifications

Inlet Connection: 1 1⁄2″ NPT-Female. 1½” BSP threaded connection.

Parts are machined from 316-L Stainless Steel investment castings or bar stock.

Rotor shaft thrust is absorbed by a Tungsten carbide bushing. Gearbox bushings are also Tungsten carbide.

Main body castings are protected by replaceable 316-L Stainless Steel cups for extended frictional wear life.

O-Ring materials are selected for each application. Viton is standard with Kalrez and EPDM available. Other materials can be supplied on special order.

Dynamic shaft seals are spring-loaded, double-lipped and made of PTFE. They are reinforced with carbon fibre for extra long wear and protection against leakage, abrasion and deposit build-up.

Dual 0.250″ (6.35 mm), 0.312″ (7.92 mm) and 0.375″ (9.52 mm) orifice diameters. Other nozzle sizes available upon request.

The wash fluid enters the GamaJet at the inlet collar where it encounters and spins rotor blades. The rotor blades are attached to the top of the rotor shaft. The bottom of this shaft is connected to the inside of a sealed, planetary gearhead which then turns the body in the horizontal plane and the nozzles in the vertical plane.

The sealed planetary gearhead has an external casing made of steel, surface-anodized to increase corrosion resistance. This sealed gearhead is located inside the gearbox, which itself is sealed, and thus does not require any lubricant. All internal parts are hardened sintered steel, the end caps and the output shaft are stainless steel.

A food grade grease is inside the sealed gearhead casing. No customer-supplied or user-maintained lubricant is needed.

Gamajets are warrantied for eighteen months from the date of shipment against any defects in workmanship or materials. Normal maintenance parts such as O-rings and bearings are not included under this warranty, nor is damage caused by dropping, use of destructively corrosive fluids, or other abuse. This warranty shall not apply to any malfunction resulting from use of non-Gamajet replacement parts purchased from any source other than Gamajet or an authorised Gamajet distributor. For full details, see Gamajet “Terms and Conditions of Sale.”

How the GJ 10 Works

The high-impact jet stream from the Rotary Jet Head covers the entire surface 360° of the tank interior in a successively denser pattern. This achieves a powerful mechanical impact with a low volume of water and cleaning media. The flow of the cleaning fluid makes the nozzles perform a geared rotation around the vertical and horizontal axes.

In the first cycle, the nozzles lay out a coarse pattern on the tank surface. The subsequent cycles gradually make the pattern denser until a full cleaning pattern is reached. Once the full cleaning pattern is reached, the machine will start over again and continue to perform the next full cleaning pattern.
