GJ 9 Industrial Jet Head

Alfa Laval GJ 9
Industrial Jet Head

The Alfa Laval GJ 9 is an Industrial Jet Head intended to be used as a portable tank cleaning machine for both sanitary and industrial tasks. Designed for cleaning intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) and tanks ranging between 1-6 metres in diameter and up to 6 metres tall, it marries flow and pressure to generate high-impact cleaning jets that spin in a repeating and constant 360° cleaning pattern. The GJ 9 minimises consumption of both water and cleaning media. The gear train, which employs food-grade lubricants, reduces any risk of particle damage to the machine in the course of standard operation. Easily customised to meet customer requirements, it lets companies spend less time in cleaning and more in producing.

The Alfa Laval Gamajet 9 is built to remove the toughest residues from industrial and hygienic IBCs, like those in found the paint, oil, food and personal care industries.

Standard thread: ¾” Rp NPT, female/ 1¼” Camlock
Available option: ¾” BSP, female/ 1¼” Camlock, 1 ½” tube weld on

Parts are machined from 316-L Stainless Steel investment castings or bar stock.

For increased wear resistance, the rotor shaft is plasma-sprayed with a Chromium Oxide coating on Stainless Steel.

Rotor shaft thrust is absorbed by a tungsten carbide bushing. Gearbox bushings are carbon-filled-reinforced polyphenylene sulphide.

Bearings in the rotating tee and nozzle housings are self-lubricating, carbon-fibre-reinforced polyphenylene sulphide.

Main body castings are protected by replaceable 316-L Stainless Steel cups for extended frictional wear life.

O-ring materials are selected for each application. Viton® is standard, with Kalrez® and EPDM available. Other materials can be supplied on special order.

Dynamic shaft seals are spring-loaded, double-lipped and made of PTFE. They are reinforced with carbon fibre for extra-long wear and protection against leakage, abrasion and deposit build-up.

Dual or quad 0.050″ (1.27 mm) to 0.225″ (5.72 mm) orifice diameters. Other nozzle sizes available upon request.

The wash fluid enters the Gamajet at the inlet collar where it encounters and spins rotor blades. The rotor blades are attached to the top of the rotor shaft. The bottom of this shaft is connected to the inside of a sealed, planetary gearhead which then turns the body in the horizontal plane and the nozzles in the vertical plane.

The sealed planetary gearhead has an external casing made of steel, surface-anodized to increase corrosion resistance. This sealed gearhead is located inside the gearbox, which itself is sealed, and thus does not require end caps and the output shaft are stainless steel.

A food-grade grease is inside the sealed gearhead casing. No customer-supplied or user-maintained lubricant is needed.

Gamajets are warrantied for eighteen months from the date of shipment against any defects in workmanship or materials. Normal maintenance parts such as O-rings and bearings are not included under this warranty, nor is damage caused by dropping, use of destructively corrosive fluids, or other abuse. This warranty shall not apply to any malfunction resulting from use of non-Gamajet replacement parts purchased from any source other than Gamajet or an authorised Gamajet distributor. For full details, see Gamajet “Terms and Conditions of Sale.”

How the GJ 9 Works

The GamaJet range of high impact tank cleaning devices combine pressure and flow to create high impact cleaning jets. Cleaning occurs at the point where the concentrated stream impacts the surface.

It is this impact and the tangential force that radiates from that point which blasts contaminants from the surface, scouring the tank interior. In conjunction with this impact, the device is engineered to rotate in a precise, repeatable and reliable, 360° pattern. This full-coverage, global indexing pattern ensures the entire tank interior is cleaned, every time.
