Application
The Alfa Laval SaniMega SB Rotary Spray Head is designed with respect to self-cleaning, self-draining and inspectability. Its novel patent pending one-clip assembly makes for easy installation, disassembly and inspection with no compromising on cleanability or drainability. The SaniMega SB is an effective replacement for established Static Spray Balls as it provides liquid impact on the whole tank wall lying within its spray pattern – either a 270°U or 360°; both at lower flow rates, and equally low pressures.
Working principle
The cleaning media’s flow rotates the SaniMega SB’s spray head on a liquid film (slide bearing), laying out jets of water in a swirling pattern over the whole area in contact with the spray. This instigates a vibrating impact and dynamic cascading flow that covers all tank, reactor or vessel internal surfaces. The SaniMega SB is designed according to EHEDG and meets the requirements of 3-A Standards.
Different spray patterns can be chosen to make the head suitable for the removal of residues from hygienic tanks across the dairy, brewery, distillery, beverage, food, personal care and many other industries.

Rotary Spray Heads like the SaniMega SB effectively clean tanks using less water, less energy and less cleaning agents than Static Spray Balls. This helps reduce consumption of high-purity water and chemicals.
As the SaniMega SB Spray Head rotates, its fan-shaped jets produce a swirling pattern throughout the vessel. This generates the wetting/impact needed for the efficient removal of the residual product.
The Alfa Laval SaniMega SB minimises the consumption of water and cleaning media. Easy to customise to meet customer requirements, the SaniMega SB allows companies to spend less time cleaning and more time producing.
Designed with minimal internal pressure loss, Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Heads rotate at pressures of less than 0.1 bar; however, the recommended operating pressure for the SaniMega SB is 2 – 3 bar.
Generally speaking, routine inspection is the only maintenance required for Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Head devices. These devices are so reliable that a single device in many cases can meet the requirements of a plant over its entire lifetime. The SaniMega SB is lubricated by the cleaning media it dispenses.
To ensure product integrity, the SaniMega SB is made of safe and non-reactive hygienic materials. All materials made of stainless steel are fully traceable in accordance with EC No. 1935/2004. The SaniMega SB is authorised to carry the 3-A symbol.
Avoid hydraulic shock, hard and abrasive particles in the cleaning liquid, as this can cause increased wear and/or damage of internal mechanisms. In general, a filter in the supply line is recommended.
