Application
The Alfa Laval SaniMagnum SB Rotary Spray Head is designed with respect to self-cleaning, self-draining and inspectability. Its novel patent pending one-clip assembly offers easy installation, disassembly and inspection without compromising cleanability or drainability. The SaniMagnum SB is an efficient replacement for the traditional Static Spray Ball as it offers liquid impact on the entire tank wall that lies within the impact pattern – a 270°U pattern or a 360° pattern; both at a lower flow rate at equally low pressure.
Working principle
The flow of cleaning media causes the head of the SaniMagnum SB to rotate on a liquid film (slide bearing), with fans of water laid out in a swirling pattern on the entire perimeter exposed to the spray pattern. This generates a vibrating impact in the impact zone and a dynamic cascading flow that covers all internal surfaces of the tank, vessel or reactor. The SaniMagnum SB is designed according to EHEDG and meets the requirements of 3-A Standards.
Different spray patterns can be chosen to make the head suitable for various applications and tank designs, ranging from simple
tanks to more complex vessels with structures such as agitators and baffles.

Rotary Spray Heads like the SaniMagnum SB effectively clean tanks using less water, less energy and less cleaning agents than static spray balls. This helps reduce consumption of high-purity water and chemicals.
As the SaniMagnum SB Spray Head rotates, its fan-shaped jets produce a swirling pattern throughout the vessel. This generates the wetting/impact needed for the efficient removal of the residual product.
The Alfa Laval SaniMagnum SB minimises the consumption of water and cleaning media. Easy to customise to meet customer requirements, the SaniMagnum SB allows companies to spend less time cleaning and more time producing.
Designed with minimal internal pressure loss, Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Heads rotate at pressures of less than 0.1 bar; however, the recommended operating pressure for the SaniMagnum SB is 2 bar.
Generally speaking, routine inspection is the only maintenance required for Alfa Laval Rotary Spray Head devices. These devices are so reliable that a single device in many cases can meet the requirements of a plant over its entire lifetime. The SaniMagnum SB is lubricated by the cleaning media it dispenses.
To ensure product integrity, the SaniMagnum SB is made of safe and non-reactive hygienic materials. All materials made of stainless steel are fully traceable in accordance with EC No. 1935/2004. The SaniMagnum SB is authorised to carry the 3-A symbol.
Avoid hydraulic shock, hard and abrasive particles in the cleaning liquid, as this can cause increased wear and/or damage of internal mechanisms. In general, a filter in the supply line is recommended.
